Grants and product donations to USA, Canada, and International nonprofit organizations to support music programming in schools and communities. New applicants must submit a letter of inquiry prior to applying. Funding is intended for applicants working to improve access to music education.

The D’Addario Foundation is a unique 501c3 non-profit grant-making organization providing monetary and product support to high-quality sustainable music instruction programs on the frontline to improve access to music education. The Foundation supports programs that bring music back into communities and schools and get kids playing as early and as frequently as possible. The D'Addario Foundation believes in the transformative power of music and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change.

The Foundation awards cash and product donations. The average dollar amount granted is approximately $2,500.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must meet the following criteria:
- 501(c)(3) non-profit status (or international equivalent)
- Offers free or affordable instrument instruction
- Addresses a need in the community it serves
- Provides frequent instruction, where students are participating multiple times per week and for as many years as possible throughout their primary & secondary education

As long as your organization fits within the Foundation's mission and is a 501(c) (3) or the equivalent in your country, it is possible to receive product as a donation.

The Foundation does not provide funding for the following:
- Individuals
- Religious, veteran or fraternal organizations
- Telethons, benefits, or fundraisers
- Capital campaigns, endowments or building fund drives
- Political or lobbying organizations
- Short-term initiatives such as performances, masterclasses, festivals, workshops, concerts, summer camps, drum circles, or competitions
- Band boosters or private schools
- Instruments, equipment, or music material requests

The D’Addario Foundation prefers not to provide funding for the purpose of purchasing equipment or instruments.

If you are a new applicant, you must first submit a letter of inquiry. Letter of inquiries are accepted on a rolling basis. Please keep in mind that depending on volume it may take up to a month to receive an evaluative response. New applicants may not submit a full grant proposal until they are formally invited to do so.

Organizations are eligible to apply for support once per year.

Grantee organizations that have been told they’ve reached term limit may re-apply for support after a three year grace period if they continue to meet the Foundation's funding objectives.
