Grants of up to $750 to Connecticut nonprofit organizations to hold community-oriented events in Berlin and New Britain. Sponsorship requests are invited for festivals, fairs, and other celebratory community events that build pride, bring people together, and promote liveliness in neighborhoods and town squares. Events must be open to the public.

Recognizing the unique role that such celebrations play in making Berlin and New Britain special, the Community Chests of New Britain and Berlin’s Community Sponsorship Awards Program offers financial support to nonprofit organizations conducting community special events that are consistent with the Chest’s goal to make our communities better places to live, work and raise a family.

Preference will be given to community events that celebrate and promote children and families; arts, culture and heritage; education; and civic engagement.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Community Sponsorship Award requests should not exceed $750. However, the Community Chest may elect to consider awards larger than $750 at its discretion.

Term of Contract:

If applying for the September 1 deadline, events may take place from October to March.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are made to nonprofit organizations.

Pre-Application Information:

Awards are made twice per year. Application deadlines are as follows:

-March 1 for events taking place April - September.

-September 1 for events taking place October - March.
