Grants to Connecticut nonprofit organizations in eligible regions for affordable after-school programs for children ages five to seventeen. Funding is intended to provide safe and educational after-school care to children with working parents of limited financial means. The desired outcome is that children of working parents receive a foundation for a successful, healthy life in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties.

After School grant applicants should serve the ALICEĀ® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population and provide affordable after-school programming for families with children ages 5 to 17 that provides enrichment.

Term of Contract:

Funding is for the fiscal year, July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible for United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) funding including those not funded in the past. Applicants must be serving children in the 5 to 17 age range.

United Way of Western Connecticut serves a 15-town region in Fairfield and Litchfield counties:
- Northern Fairfield County is often referred to as the Greater Danbury area. It includes Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Ridgefield, and Redding.
- Southern Litchfield County, or Greater New Milford, includes the towns of Bridgewater, Kent, New Milford, Roxbury, Sherman, Warren, and Washington.

Pre-Application Information:

The application form must be completed and submitted by Friday, February 14, 2020.

Site visits will be conducted the weeks of March 9, 2020 and March 16, 2020. Funding decisions will be made by May 2020.
