Eurasia Foundation (EF) - U.S.-Russia Social Expertise Exchange (SEE)
08/05/19 11:59 PM EST (7:59 AM Moscow Time on 08/06/19)
Grants of up to $1,200 plus travel expenses to USA and Russia individual professionals for collaborative efforts addressing urgent social problems. Funding is intended to support participation in 3-week exchange programs, and the subsequent presentation of newfound knowledge in the participant's home country, focusing on the areas of social entrepreneurship, community engagement and volunteerism, social inclusion, and youth engagement and mentorship.
The Independent Professional (INP) Initiative awards funding for collaboration among U.S. and Russian social experts. Independent Professionals will travel to a host country (Russia or the US) during fall 2019 - winter 2020 to collaborate with partner organizations on seeking new solutions for social challenges relevant to both countries. While abroad, participants will be exposed to new skills, methods, and professional networks. Upon their return home, independent professionals must carry out at least one clearly defined activity designed to convey or apply the knowledge and/or expertise gained during their visit to benefit their colleagues and/or community members. This activity (or activities) must directly benefit at least 250 individuals. Activities may include, but are not limited to, leading training sessions on newly-learned skills, presenting about activities conducted during travel, practically applying a skill learned during travel, or distributing a product developed in collaboration with overseas partners.
Projects may focus on various topics, including but not limited to increasing involvement of youth in the social sphere and cultivating their participation in international dialogue; increasing involvement of people with disabilities in social life, employment, and sports; and creating business initiatives to encourage environmental sustainability or otherwise improve quality of life. Projects should avoid topics related to political activism or activity, public policy reform, or the influence of public opinion.
Some examples of eligible expenses include space or equipment rental for events, design and printing of presentation materials, and purchase of needed project supplies.
In addition to the stipend, EF will also organize and fund travel and logistics for SEE Independent Professionals, including international and domestic transportation (economy class), visas, lodging, and health insurance. EF will also provide a per diem living allowance. Stipends may be used to procure goods and services in the U.S. and/or Russia.
For a description of duties and requirements of both host organizations and visiting professionals, see page 3 of the RFA document in Supporting Documents below.
