Opportunity for USA educators of grades 5 through 12 to participate in a competition showcasing students' volunteer projects. The chosen school will have their volunteer project showcased on social media and at a public event. A film crew will be sent to the school to produce a short video about the students' efforts. The winning school will receive a $2,500 grant to further their volunteer activities.
The program aims to shine a spotlight on a school and students impacting their community through a video that will be created and used at Allstate Foundation-sponsored WE Day events.
One (1) school will be chosen as the winner of the Allstate Foundation Volunteer Spotlight and have their volunteer project filmed as a video to be showcased on The Allstate Foundation website, on social media, at events, etc. After the video is filmed, the winning school will be awarded a grant to help further their volunteer efforts.
Additionally, the Fresh Films team will recruit up to eight students from the local community surrounding the winning school to work with the Fresh Films crew to document the volunteer project. Fresh Films’ professional filmmakers and college interns will coach the students and teach through hands-on learning. The students are responsible for all aspects of the production and will gain technical knowledge as well as valuable life skills, including time management, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving.
Judges will look at the uniqueness and diversity of the volunteer project, the need from the community and school to showcase the project in the video and the overall passion of the applicant.
