Grants to USA nonprofit organizations to support crisis lines for people impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Funding is intended to provide hotlines with the tools and resources needed to keep up with the unprecedented demand for their services. Grants will support organizations that operate contact centers that help people in acute crisis re-establish a sense of safety and stability.

People in acute crisis are individuals who are impacted by an emergency and unable to meet their basic survival needs or those individuals who face serious and immediate threats to their life and well being. These emergencies may affect whole communities or specific individuals. In terms of the COVID-19 pandemic, people in acute crisis include vulnerable communities/individuals currently experiencing, or at imminent risk of experiencing, the following:

  • Mental health
  • Substance misuse
  • Refugee / Conflict
  • Sexual violence / Abuse
  • Acute food, housing or income insecurity is looking for applications that:

  • Outline a critical need brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and a plan to address that need with crisis lines
  • Plan to serve (i) a large number of people in acute crisis who need help (impact at scale); and (ii) serve those who are most vulnerable with resources that have life-changing impact (impact at depth)
  • Break the status quo by reaching communities that couldn’t be reached before and/or provide new services or information. Examples include: preserving staffing capacity by enabling hotline staff to work remotely through transitioning to cloud-based contact centers; reaching more people in need by offering multichannel communications (voice + SMS + chat) that bridge the digital divide; optimizing human capital by intelligently deflecting non-urgent contacts to automated resources and keep service delivery staff focused on more complex and higher-risk cases
  • Provide better tracking and reporting of crisis state through modern contact center analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Identify clear success measures
  • Align with’s mission to fuel communications that give hope, power and freedom.
